04/28/2025 - 100 Years of Art Deco: The Paris World's Fair of Decorative Arts and Industrial Design 1925
The Paris World Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Industrial Design on April 28, 1925 was the impetus and namesake for the "Art Déco" style. At the "Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes" architects, decorators and designers presented their latest creations. The style can be described as elegant, symmetrical and streamlined. Above all, technology served as a source of inspiration. Vertical lines, zigzag patterns and rectangular shapes reflect the advent of machine production. Advances in materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, glass and plastic, also offered artists other ways to give new expression to their works. Art Deco is now alive for 100 years.
