109-year-old tortoise needs hospital treatment
Esmeralda, a 109-year-old Aldabra giant tortoise and one of the most famous residents of Sydney's Taronga Zoo, had to undergo delicate treatment. Keepers had noticed swelling on her neck and changes in her behaviour, such as when eating and breathing. She was then taken to the SASH North Ryde specialist animal hospital, where experts used CT scans and endoscopy to search for the cause.
