2022-04-11 - 200th anniversary massacre of Chios
In the "Chios Massacre", which began on 11 April 1822 on the Aegean island of Chios (near present-day Izmir), around 25,000 Greeks died at the hands of Ottoman troops; thousands of Hellenes were also captured and sold as slaves.
