2022-05-13 - 125th Anniversary : First wireless communication link (Marconi)
125 years ago, on May 13, 1897, the Italian physicist and inventor Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) established the first wireless communication link. It went over 5.3 km from the British island of Flat Holm in the Bristol Channel across the open sea to Lavernock Point (Wales). Marconi is considered one of the pioneers of telecommunications. In 1909, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics together with Ferdinand Braun for his practical work in the field of radiotelegraphy
