2022-05-22 - 10 years ago: Space capsule "Dragon" (SpaceX) flies to ISS
On May 22, 2012, the first private space shuttle was launched into space. The unmanned "Dragon" carried equipment and food from Cape Canaveral in the US state of Florida to the International Space Station (ISS). On May 31, the transporter from California-based SpaceX returned to Earth from its test flight. While this first version of the Dragon capsule (Dragon 1) was only suitable for transporting cargo, there are two variants of the successor Dragon 2: The Crew Dragon for manned missions and the Cargo Dragon 2 for cargo transport to the ISS. On May 30, 2020, astronauts took off again for the first time in a Crew Dragon space capsule from the U.S. Cape Canaveral Cosmodrome to the International Space Station.
