2024-01-27 - 80 years ago: Liberation of Leningrad
During the Siege of Leningrad (8 September 1941 to 27 January 1944 ), the city was encircled by German troops to cut off the population from any supply. More than one million inhabitants died, most of them of starvation. The operation ended with the failure of Army Group North and a Soviet victory.
