2024-04-15 - 35th an­niver­sary Hills­bor­ough Desaster

On April 15, 1989, a mass panic broke out at the cup match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forrest at Sheffield's Hillsborough Stadium. 97 people died in the crush of a completely overcrowded grandstand. A further 766 people suffered injuries, some of them serious. According to a court ruling, misconduct by security forces was the main cause of the tragedy.
