2026-01-05 - 25th anniversary - End of the "Mir" space station sealed
On 5th January 2001, the then Russian head of government Mikhail Kasyanov decided to end the almost 15-year-old "Mir" space station. The space station built by the Soviet Union orbited the earth from 1987 until its crash in 2001 and was also used by other Western space agencies, such as NASA, after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
