2026-03-04 - 90th anniversary of the Zeppelin Hindenburg - maiden flight
On March 4, 1936, the airship LZ 129 "Hindenburg" took off on its maiden flight. Just over a year later (May 6, 1937), the airship exploded on landing at Lakehurst Airship Harbour near New York. The 100-ton airship, which was the largest aircraft in the world at the time, burned to the ground. A total of 36 passengers and crew members lost their lives in the disaster.
