2027-01-25 - 50th anniversary of Odeillo, the world's first solar furnace
The world's first solar furnace was inaugurated in the French Pyrenees on January 25, 1977. The plant consists of 63 heliostats that concentrate sunlight onto a giant parabolic mirror, reaching temperatures of over 3000°C.
