2027-05-07 - 35 years ago: US space shuttle Endeavour on first flight

Space Shuttle Endeavour (OV-105) launched May 7, 1992, on its first mission (STS-49), to repair a communications satellite. Endeavour completed a total of 25 successful space missions, including the first service mission for the Hubble Space Telescope, the first mission to add a U.S. component to the International Space Station, and other assembly missions to the ISS. Endeavour's last mission (STS-134) lasted from May 16 to June 10, 2011, ending the U.S. shuttle program. Since 2012, the space shuttle has been on display at the California Science Center in Los Angeles.
