30 years ago, on 31 August 1997, the British Princess of Hearts died at the age of 36 in a car accident in Paris together with her companion Dodi al-Fayed and driver Henri Paulin. The aristocrat's daughter was born Lady Diana Frances Spencer on 1 July 1961. She married the heir to the British throne Prince Charles in 1981 and had two sons, Princes William and Harry. Princess Diana became a style and media icon and developed into a prominent power woman. After her divorce from Prince Charles, she campaigned for the abolition of landmines and continued to support disadvantaged people.
