2027-11-18 - 40 years ago: Fire at King's Cross St. Pancras Station

The King's Cross St. Pancras fire was a devastating fire that broke out on November 18, 1987, at the King's Cross St. Pancras underground station in London, claiming the lives of 31 people. The accident is one of the worst in the history of the London Underground and led to far-reaching measures in the area of fire safety. In particular, the outdated wooden escalators and inadequate safety precautions contributed significantly to the extent of the disaster.
