2028-09-13 - 70 years ago: Jack Kilby invents the microchip
Jack St. Clair Kilby, the ‘father of the microchip’ – the American, together with Robert Noyce, invented the first integrated circuit, thereby laying the foundations for modern electronics. Kilby continued to work on improving the applications for integrated circuits well into his old age and filed his final patent application as late as 1995.
