21 March - World Down Syndrome Day
Since 2006, every year on 21 March, Down's Syndrome Day has been celebrated worldwide with events and campaigns. The aim is to make the public more aware of the issue of Down syndrome. The date refers to the technical term trisomy 21. In people with Down syndrome, chromosome 21 is present three times instead of twice.
