60 years after Aberfan: Royals and bereaved families remember the victims
On 21 October 1966, a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto the Welsh mining village of Aberfan, burying its primary school and houses. 144 people died, including 116 children. On the 60th anniversary, the village commemorates the victims, and members of the British royal family laid wreaths.
