Abdication Tsar Nicholas II, Russia 1917
After the events of the February Revolution of 1917, Tsar Nicholas II (1868 -1918) was forced to abdicate on March 15, 1917. This also meant the end of the Romanov dynasty. The tsar and his family were initially placed under house arrest in the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoye Selo. After the October Revolution, they were taken as prisoners to Yekaterinburg (Urals) and murdered there by the Bolsheviks on the night of July 17, 1918.
