Farewell to Cinderella actress Safrankova
Friends, family and colleagues have bid farewell to actress Libuse Safrankova, who died unexpectedly. Her coffin was laid out in Prague's Church of St Agnes of Bohemia on Friday. Safrankova's best-known role as the main character in the feature film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" was commemorated by a pink dancing shoe. The fairy tale film from 1973, a co-production with the East German DEFA, is considered a TV Christmas classic. Hundreds of people paid their last respects, including Pavel Travnicek, who played the prince in the film. The actress had died on 9 June at the age of 68. Czech President Milos Zeman sent a funeral wreath. The funeral will take place at a later date in her hometown of Slapanice near Brno. Safrankova starred in almost 150 cinema and television films, including "Kolya", "Homeland, Sweet Homeland" and "The Salt Prince". Several years ago she had survived lung cancer. With her husband, the series star Josef Abrham, she formed the dream couple of Czechoslovak and Czech television for decades.
