Aldrin, Buzz (geb. am 20.01.1930)
The US astronaut Buzz Aldrin (born 20.01.1930) went down in history as the second man after Neil Armstrong to walk on the moon in 1969. Aldrin had graduated from West Point Military Academy and studied aerospace engineering at MIT before joining NASA. There he took part in the Gemini 12 mission and the legendary Apollo 11 flight. He left Nasa in 1971. Aldrin is the founder of the ShareSpace Foundation and the author of numerous books. His enthusiasm for space flight never left him, and he continued to intervene publicly in the USA's space strategy well into his old age.
