More than 1,500 migrants reach Spain's Ceuta within days

The arrival of at least 1,500 migrants in the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta within a few days has put local authorities on high alert. The regional government is calling on Madrid to declare a national state of emergency and deploy the Spanish military to the border with Morocco. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is traveling to Ceuta today. Not everyone seeking to enter the EU makes it: Spanish police discovered the bodies of ten people over the past two days who had presumably attempted to reach Ceuta by swimming.
