"Christmas with all senses" Nativity scenes and biblical representations from various countries on display in the special exhibition ‘Christmas with all the senses’ at the Museum of European Cultures. Objects with a surprise effect can be seen from 29 November to 2 February 2025. A swap meet for unloved Christmas presents will take place on 5 January.

Art at minus 8 degrees Artists in Oberhausen have created frosty sculptures from hundreds of tonnes of ice and snow for an exhibition. On Saturday (30 November), the ‘Ice World’ opens in a specially constructed thermal hall not far from the Centro shopping centre. For almost two weeks, 35 international artists have been shaping 500 blocks of ice and 200 tonnes of artificial snow. The material is worked with chainsaws, chisels and knives. The result is the Zollverein colliery winding tower, the landmarks of Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam and figures of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

North German Realists paint in Bremen Till Warwas from the Norddeutsche Realisten paints on the Osterdeich. The Norddeutsche Realisten are an association of artists who have been meeting for around 30 years to paint outdoors. The resulting works from Bremen will be shown simultaneously in three Bremen museums in spring 2023 under the title "At Sight - The North German Realists Paint in Bremen".

Huge sculptures made from vehicle parts Martial iron sculptures made from various vehicle parts by Turkish engineer Murat Cetin are on display at the National Garden in Duzce, Turkey, on 07 June 2022. Cetin assembled the huge iron sculptures weighing 250 kilograms from various parts, such as spark plugs, bolts and chains, of unused vehicles.

The Hungarian photographer and artist uses everyday objects such as food and miniature figures to create amazingly intricate scenes depicting microscopic worlds. Artist crochets tiny animals with sewing thread Artist Lucia Dolgopolova (39) has very dexterous fingers and is about to make micro crochet a big thing. She started making tiny crochet pieces because her life was too busy with bigger projects. The Ukrainian, who lives in Russia, practised with a 0.35-mm needle, the smallest in the world, and the thinnest sewing thread she could find. After many failed attempts, she has now become a master of her art with impressive results, such as teeny tiny animals, birds and even dragons. For her smallest work, a one-millimetre owl, she even split the already very thin sewing thread in half.
