Bank robbery with hostage-taking in Hamburg
During his raid on a branch of the Commerzbank in Hamburg on 18 April 1974, the perpetrator killed a policeman and took several employees hostage. After leaving the bank, he was overpowered by a police officer and shot. In 1975, dpa photographer Werner Baum received the "World Press Photo" award in the "Sequences" category for his series of pictures of the robbery.
