View into the future : World Exhibition New York 1939/1940
Smoking robot, television launch, streamlined locomotives and a time capsule: Under the motto "The World of Tomorrow - all Eyes to the Future", the 1939 World's Fair opened in New York. In the center of the exhibition grounds in Flushing Meadows stood a pointed obelisk and a giant white sphere as landmarks: Trylon and Perisphere. During the two years, the numerous automotive and electrical companies in particular were able to impress the approximately 50 million visitors with their presentations. The exhibition was held in New York from April 30 to October 31, 1939, and from May 11 to October 27, 1940.
