Collections of Memory - Tony Marshall Opens Gallery

Hundreds of photos, cups, medals, golden records and other memorabilia - pop singer Tony Marshall (83) opened his personal gallery in Gaggenau near Rastatt on Tuesday. "I have dragged everything there that is dear and valuable to me," he said. With the gallery in rooms belonging to the inn of his old friend Frank Füchtenschnieder, he fulfilled a dream: "It is a tribute to my colleagues, many of whom are no longer alive," he said. "But it's also meant to remember me!" The curios and mementos housed in a kind of log cabin are like a catwalk through Tony Marshall's life. Pictures show him with Schlager greats like Karel Gott, Peter Alexander or Roberto Blanco - "one of my best friends for more than 60 years," says the singer, who celebrated great successes with hits like "Schöne Maid" or "Heute hau'n wir auf die Pauke". Medals from carnival guilds and associations hang on "Tony's Narrenbaum". The honorary citizenship certificate of his native town Baden-Baden has a place of honour.
