German Parliament passes the emergency laws (30.05.968)
On May 30, 1968, the German Bundestag passed the Emergency Constitution and incorporated it into the Basic Law, despite fierce protests from the trade unions and, above all, the student movement. It was promulgated in the Federal Law Gazette on June 27, 1968. 384 of the full number of members of parliament who were entitled to vote were in favor of the emergency constitution in the roll call vote. 100 members of the Bundestag (53 SPD, 46 FDP, 1 CSU) voted against, and one abstained. In the event of an internal or external state of emergency, the creation of an emergency parliament and the restriction of fundamental rights are now possible.
