The last surviving Bee Gee: Barry Gibb turns 75
His voice shaped the greatest hits of the Bee Gees. Classics like “Staying Alive” or “Night Fever” would be unthinkable without Barry Gibb's falsetto singing. Rather by chance and relatively late, the singer discovered his head voice. When recording the single "Nights On Broadway" in January 1975, producer Arif Mardin suggested adding screeching background vocals to the chorus. Barry tried and was amazed at his own impressive vocal range. A new Bee Gees sound was born. The last surviving Bee Gee celebrates his 75th birthday on September 1st.
