Bestselling author Ildikó von Kürthy (54, "Es wird Time") thinks nothing of the pursuit of happiness. "There are no happy marriages, just as there are no happy people. Maybe there are happy cows, but I doubt that too," Kürthy told the German Press Agency dpa in Hamburg. There are only people who live their lives with the ups and downs that every life has in store. "Happiness is not a yardstick for me. Life is also perfectly fine when things go badly," the author said. That is part of it and the more one accepts that, the better life is. "This striving for happiness, the constant wanting to block out fear and pain causes so much unnecessary stress. The assumption that a successful life is a life without unhappiness is simply wrong. Happiness only comes from its opposite," Kürthy said. Her new novel "Morgen kann kommen" was published on Tuesday by Rowohlt Verlag in Hamburg.
