Football World Cup 1934

The second edition of the 1934 World Cup was far more pompous. The tournament took place in a total of eight World Cup cities and was broadcast live on the radio. In addition, the preliminary round consisted of 32 teams, so that 16 nations could qualify for the final round. This time, too, Italy prevailed as hosts, although defending champions Uruguay refused to take part from the start.
