Former US Vice President Walter Mondale dies at 93
Former US Vice President Walter Frederick Mondale is dead. He died at the age of 93 at home in his hometown of Minneapolis, his family announced in a statement to US media on Monday (local time). Mondale, known as "Fritz" to his friends, was deputy to Democratic President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981. The now 96-year-old praised him as the "best vice-president in the history" of the USA to date.
