Kaminski, Heinz (15.06.1921 - 17.02.2002)
born on 15 June 1921 in Bochum, deceased on 17 February.2002 in Arnsberg. Heinz Kaminski founded the observatory in Bochum in 1946. When he became its director in 1961, he gave it the name "Institute for Satellite and Space Research". In 1957 he was the first to receive signals from Sputnik 1 outside the Soviet Union and was able to prove the beginning of space travel with his sound recordings. Politically, Kaminski was member of the SPD before co-founding the Green Action Future (GAZ) and the Citizens' Party in the late 1970s.
