Puss "Larry" - Twelve years in the service of the government
Larry outdoes the Premiers: It is clear that Boris Johnson is not the one who has lived in Downing Street the longest in recent history. Margaret Thatcher ruled for eleven years, after all. But even the "Iron Lady" has to admit defeat. The record holder is - a tomcat. Rishi Sunak is the official head of house in Downing Street. But the current incumbent is just another British prime minister who gets to share the house behind the famous black door with the secret ruler. This Wednesday marks exactly twelve years that Puss Larry has resided in the seat of government. The Chief Mouser, the "chief mouser of the United Kingdom", has thus been in office longer than any prime minister since the end of the 19th century. Most recently, Larry also left Margaret Thatcher behind, who ruled for eleven and a half years.
