Kingsley, Ben (geb 31.12.1948)
The actor Ben Kingsley was born on 31 December 1948 in Scarborough, England, the son of an Indian doctor and an English actress. After a few small roles in British television films and soap operas, he achieved his international breakthrough in 1982 with the film "Gandhi", for which he was awarded the Oscar for Best Leading Actor. Kingsley is particularly convincing because of his versatility: he plays benevolent as well as insane, vile or noble characters. He is particularly in demand when it comes to embodying historical personalities. He slipped into the roles of Gandhi, Moses, Lenin or Adolf Eichmann. In addition to the Oscar, Kingsley has received numerous other awards, including two Golden Globe awards, and he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2001. Since 2007, he has been married for the fourth time to the Brazilian actress Daniela Lavender.
