Artist Pompe and the praline paper - exhibition in Lüneburg
Artist Alwine Pompe uses praline paper for her colorful paintings. The Hamburg-born artist has presented her idiosyncratic works at exhibitions in Spain, Switzerland and China. "Light and colors have a strong influence," the 70-year-old says in her new studio on an organic farm in the municipality of Rehlingen. According to her own information, she is the only one in the world who produces works of art from chocolate paper. At 900 to 25,000 euros, they are not quite inexpensive. Only three months ago she moved with her husband to Ehlbeck in the district of Lüneburg in the heath and wants to receive visitors soon. During this time, she says, it is difficult with art; most of the works can only be offered digitally. Lüneburg's St. Nicolai Church is planning an exhibition of the paintings for October. "This has something to do with skill and art," Pastor Eckhard Oldenburg told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Pompe uses a lot of Christian symbolism, he said, "I liked that right away."
