Lady Diana as fashion icon
Princess Diana was considered a fashion icon. The designer fashion world is said to have been a stranger to the young Lady Diana Spencer at first. She only owned a dress, a blouse and a pair of good shoes, and borrowed the rest of friends. The then 20-year-old Diana only slowly found her new role after marrying Prince Charles in 1981. One of her most famous dresses is the dark blue velvet dress by Victor Edelstein, in which Diana danced with John Travolta at a state banquet in the White House in 1985. She also wore the “Travolta dress” two years later on an official visit with Prince Charles in what was then the Federal Republic of Germany.
