Le Pen Sentenced to One Year of House Arrest with Elec­tron­ic Tag

The Paris Court of Appeal has sentenced Marine Le Pen, the former leader of the National Rally (RN) party, to one year of house arrest under electronic monitoring, a fine, and a temporary ban from running for public office over the case involving the alleged fictitious employment of parliamentary assistants. The ruling could significantly complicate her bid to run in France's 2027 presidential election.
