Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (21.08.1930 - 09.02.2002)
Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, was born on 21 August 1930 as the daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and was the younger sister of the British Queen Elizabeth II. With her unconventional and fashionable lifestyle, she was one of the most enigmatic persons of the House of Windsor. As a divorcee, she was not allowed to marry her great love, the writer Peter Townsend. Her marriage to the photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, with whom she had two children, failed in 1960. Parties, affairs and lots of cigarettes brought the "unhappy" princess into the gossip papers again and again. Since the mid-1980s, she had increasingly severe health problems. She died on 9 February 2002, a few weeks before her mother, "Queen Mum".
