Montand, Yves
The actor and singer Yves Montand (born as Ivo Livi on 13.10.1921 in Italy, died on 09.11.1991 in France) is considered one of the most successful representatives of the French music and cinema scene of the 20th century. He had his first own show as early as 1945 at the Théâtre de l'Étoile in Paris, where he developed his celebrated one-man shows as a singer, dancer and reciter. As a cinema star, he played leading roles in more than 70 films: in 1946, his first film "Chanson of Love" was released. His international breakthrough followed with films such as "Lohn der Angst", "Machen wir's mit Liebe" and "Wahl der Waffen". In 1949 he met Simone Signoret, whom he married two years later. Montand was politically active and was involved in the peace movement, among other things.
