Moscow Treaty, 1970
German Chancellor Willy Brandt (SPD) and Russian Prime Minister Alexei Kossygin signed the German-Soviet Treaty on the Mutual Renunciation of the Use and Threat of Force in the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin in Moscow on August 12, 1970. "Change through rapprochement" became the principle of the new policy of détente in the Brandt cabinet.
