Non-binary and transgender: Football star Quinn from Canada
Canada's midfield star Quinn is the first transgender person to participate in a World Cup. Quinn outed herself in 2020 as transgender and non-binary, i.e. neither exclusively female nor male, and shed the first name Rebecca. By herself, Quinn uses the gender-neutral pronouns they/them. In 2021, Quinn became the first non-binary transgender person to compete in the Olympics, winning a gold medal with the team.
