Nazi-Era - Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia established (1939)
On March 16, 1939, after the invasion of German troops into the still independent territories of Czechoslovakia, the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was formed and became part of the Greater German Reich. The former German Foreign Minister Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath became the Reich Protector. As the representative of the German Reich, he was directly subordinate to Hitler. The head of state remained Emil Hácha, elected by the Czechoslovak National Assembly at the end of November 1938.
