Oldenburg, Claes (28.01.1929 - 18.07.2022)

The artist Claes Oldenburg was born on 28.01.1929 in Stockholm and died on 18.07.2022 in New York. He is one of the most important representatives of American pop art. His large-format sculptures, often oversized everyday objects, are often found in public spaces and are thus known to a broad public. These include, for example, the "Inverted collar and Tie" in front of one of Frankfurt's bank buildings, the water hose in Eschholzpark, Freiburg, and the huge concrete billiard balls that can be admired on the banks of Lake Aase near Muenster.
