Prince Edward turns 60 (10/03/2024)
The Queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, has always been overshadowed by his brothers. This changed when his eldest brother Charles took office. A year ago, he, previously the Duke of Wessex, was given the title of Duke of Edinburgh. He was also appointed Counsellor of State at the end of 2022, meaning that he is now also a member of the Royal family who can officially represent the King as Head of State. Edward is regarded as a prince without scandal. He has been married to Sophie Rhys-Jones since 1999 and the couple have two children, James and Louise. A good 15 years younger than Charles and 18 years older than heir to the throne Prince William, Edward is an important link between the royal generations in the current upheaval. He celebrates his 60th birthday on 10 March.
