Ritchie Blackmore turns 80 (14.04.2025)
The British guitarist and songwriter Ritchie Blackmore (actually Richard Hugh Blackmore) was born on 14 April 1945. Blackmore rose to fame as a founding member of the hard rock band "Deep Purple" in 1968. With his unique guitar style, which combined classic melodies with rock and blues, he had a decisive influence on hard rock and heavy metal. After leaving "Deep Purple", he founded the band "Rainbow" in 1975 to further develop his musical ideas. Blackmore's outstanding playing technique influenced numerous musicians, especially those of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
