Royal Barge Procession in Bangkok
On Bangkok's Chao Phraya River, 52 ornately decorated royal barges glide in precise formation, rowed by around 2,200 oarsmen. The procession ends at Wat Arun temple, where King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida take part in the traditional Kathin ceremony, presenting new robes to monks. It marked the queen's 48th birthday in November 2026. The procession takes place only on special occasions and shows the enduring role of the monarchy in modern Bangkok.
