Slipknot drummer: Joey Jordison is dead

The former drummer of metal band Slipknot, Joey Jordison, has died at the age of 46, according to media reports. "We are heartbroken to announce that Joey Jordison, a prolific drummer, musician and artist, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26, 2021," CNN quoted Tuesday (local time) from a family statement obtained by the U.S. network. "Joey's death has left us with empty hearts and indescribable sadness." He had a "gentle personality" and a "huge heart," he said. Details on the cause of death were not initially released. According to the report, Jordison had co-founded the metal band in 1995 in the U.S. state of Iowa, which later became famous for its provocative performances in overalls and horror masks. In 1999, the eponymous album "Slipknot" was released. In 2013 it became known that the drummer and the band went their separate ways. Later, Jordison shared that he was suffering from a disease of the nervous system. In addition to Slipknot, he was a co-founder of bands such as Scar The Martyr and Sinsaenum.
