The counter-revolutionary putsch attempt of September 13, 1920, initiated by Walther von Lüttwitz and Wolfgang Kapp, was successfully thwarted mainly by the largest general strike in German history to date. The putsch was carried out by Freikorpsverbände, in particular the Marinebrigade Ehrhardt, and could be fought off without major bloodshed a few days later by paralyzing the entire economy and infrastructure. - This selection contains pictures from our partner agency Süddeutsche Zeitung Photo.
