SZ Photo - Referendum on the expropriation of the princes 20.06.1926
The referendum ìExpropriation of the princely fortuneî was the only successful one during the Weimar Republic. This led to the referendum on June 20, 1926, in which 96.1% of the registered voters spoke out in favor of the expropriation of the princely fortune without compensation. Due to politically motivated hurdles by Reich President Hindenburg, the simple majority was not sufficient, since an absolute majority would have been necessary. As a result of calls for a boycott by the churches, the nobility and right-wing parties, only about 32% of those eligible to vote went to the polls. - This selection contains pictures from our partner agency S¸ddeutsche Zeitung Photo.
