SZ Photo - Locarno Treaties, 1925
As a result of the international treaties negotiated in Locarno, Switzerland, between October 5 and 16 and signed in London on December 1, Germany and France committed themselves to future border violations. Furthermore, it was decided to accept Germany as a full member of the League of Nations. In German cities, right-wing and extreme left-wing parties and organizations called on their supporters to demonstrate against the treaties. While the left feared that Germany would be embedded in the capitalist, western alliance in the fight against the Soviet Union, the right-wing parties opposed the recognition of the western border and thus the loss of Alsace-Lorraine. - This selection contains pictures from our partner agency Süddeutsche Zeitung Photo.
