The Backpacker Murders in Australia
In the early 1990s, a series of murders took place in the Australian state of New South Wales. Convicted murderer Ivan Robert Marko Milat killed seven backpackers within the Belanglo State Forest. The victims were from Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia. In 1996, he was sentenced to multiple life terms. He remained in prison until 2019, when he died of cancer.
