The Spiegel affair of 1962
The news magazine "Der Spiegel" publishes on 10 October 1962 an unveiling report on the German Armed Forces entitled "Conditionally Ready for Defense", thus triggering a crisis in the government of Konrad Adenauer, as a result of which Federal Minister of Defense Strauss and two state secretaries had to resign.
